Elapse

The lightness, colorfulness and cute shape of a balloon often make people feel happy, but its essence is empty, which triggers thinking about the relationship between appearance and substance; as time passes, its color and shape will gradually fade, reflecting the changes in human emotions and experiences.
Balloon twisting craftsman Raymond Tong used his work for the first time to show his understanding that even if something is thought to be eternal, its meaning will change without one’s awareness, just as the Greek philosopher Heraclitus said ~ “Panta Rhei” (Everything flows).

Elapse

We all want to have eternal things, such as relationships and wealth. This kind of immutability brings us a sense of stability and security. However, changes are happening every moment without our noticing. No matter how solid something is, it will eventually dissipate, like smoke that cannot be caught. Diamonds are the hardest material on earth, and diamonds are also a metaphor for eternal and stable relationships. Even though balloons can be made to look like diamonds, they are actually light and soft. Just like what we think is eternal, it may not be the case. When you think you have it, you will ignore the passing process. Balloons, like flowers, have a blooming period, and what you see is different every moment.
