When Sculpture meets 3D printing –Final Chapter:SUBDUE

The creative process for "When Sculpture Meets 3D Printing" necessitated over seven months of tireless work for artist Zhang Zhe. He faced challenges of near-complete ignorance, trials of failure, and a reliance on and breakthroughs in the unknown, ultimately culminating in the exhibition's theme, "SUBDUE" that carries multiple meanings for him. The main theme of this exhibition is the characters of Zhong Kui and Batman, who share the mission of "suppressing all evil spirits" and protecting their homeland. Both are law enforcers, walking the line between light and darkness, paradoxically becoming heroes against evil.

The fusion of East meets West is a unique characteristic of Hong Kong culture. The image of Zhong Kui originates from an artwork Zhang Zhe created during the Hungry Ghost festival in San Francisco's Chinatown in 2023, which inspired him to rethink traditional culture. Integrating modern technology not only allows Zhang Zhe to rapidly experiment but also rediscovers the joy of facing challenges in the artistic process, allowing him to passionately immerse himself in the uncharted territory of creation.

Whether it's traditional forms, static ink paintings, or the playful effects of Lego stacking, presented as trendy toys, or even stimulating the viewer's senses through shocking images, all these elements, like the theme of "SUBDUE," deeply convinced every visitor.
