About Exhibition
In daily life, we use ordinary straight rulers to draw lines and measure lengths. Different professions also have their exclusive measuring tools. Architects use tape measures, laser rangefinders and scale rulers to design buildings and ensure structural safety and stability. Engineers employ precision calipers to fabricate mechanical parts for the smooth operation of technological products. Tailors use soft measuring tapes to make well-fitted garments. Scientists use professional instruments to measure distance, temperature and speed.
Various measuring tools enable humanity to calculate precisely, achieve standardized production, boost efficiency and enhance quality of life. They have made tremendous contributions to construction, medical research and transportation development.
Mr Joseph TO, Founder of Ontem Collect, is a Hong Kong interior designer. His professional work has cultivated his passion for collecting vintage items, particularly devoted to sourcing distinctive rulers from around the globe.
Joseph will debut his original Ganchetsky Series at the “Ruler ” Exhibition. Ganchesky means “the sky of rulers”, is full of playful artistic charm.
This exhibition marks the 18th art or cultural event organized or co-hosted by ZLab since its establishment in April 2024. ZHANG Zhe will also premiere his original series “Using Oneself as a Yardstick to Gauge the World” at the exhibition.

A day of artful moment, the shop owner personally guides you through an extraordinary collection (dazzling array) of antique treasures from different eras, including rulers, books, red packets, Bodhidharma figurines, and more.
